Family B - Basement Play Space

This is a typical basement where children are suppose to play but nothing has been really organized so what starts to happen is more and more toys start to creep upstairs into family rooms, bedrooms, kitchens … anywhere but downstairs. Why? Who can find anything? It's dangerous because toys are everywhere so once the children start running around, someone is going to step on something, (and you also now have a broken toy). Would you want to play there?
Clean up time only comes after we can't walk anywhere and then things just get thrust into unorganized, large toy boxes where everything has to get pulled out to find it the next day.

Kids don't really want to play in the basement anyways, so if this is assigned kid space where you want the majority of toys to be, let's make it fun, organized for quick clean up (that the kids can actually do) with zone play areas. Think of a preschool or day care, there is a ' house' section with dolls and kitchens, a puzzles and games section, drama and puppet area and art zones. This can be done easily in your own home. Easy systems for clean up are critical to make it work, (think preschool again) and you won't have to yell at your kids (okay, not as much) about picking up their toys at the end of the day.

This is a classic children's space that needs some play zones and quick clean up solutions that make an end of the day tidy up easy. We are all tired at bedtime and if clean up takes longer than ten minutes, it's not working.

The following basement took 7 hours on site with just a little sorting assistance from the client, (less than two hours). Materials cost $190 for a total job cost of $566.
